Nadja Black, Soul of War
Born in Ala Mhigo, Nadja and her younger sister fled their home during the occupation. While her sister went to live with an aunt in Limsa Lominsa, Nadja went to work in Ul'dah where she became a prize fighter. Unlike the typical scene most pugilists flock to, Nadja's talents were put to the test in private gambling rings run by the Ul'dahn elites.
While she had the opportunity to participate in the liberation of her homeland, Nadja reluctantly returned to Ul'dah to continue working to pay for her sister's schooling. Though not long after returning, she met her partner, Halyna (Hally) Duval. The two have been nigh inseparable ever since.
... Save for the event where she nearly lost her eyesight.
Presently, she travels alongside Halyna, who works as a chirurgeon that often takes house calls from all around Eorzea and even as far as Hingashi. Still, it's not uncommon to find Nadja in Ul'dah in or around the Pugilist Guild.

► Nadja used to moonlight at the Pugilist Guild as an instructor.
► You'd carried a long conversation with Nadja when she was temporarily blinded but she doesn't know your face.
► Prior to the liberation, Nadja would frequently make trips to the East Shroud to help smuggle refugees out of Gyr Abania.
► Even though she normally wore a costume during the private prize fights, you recognize Nadja anyway.
► You were the on-call healer after a particularly brutal high-stakes fight and had to patch her back together.
Sloane, Sworn Protector
Born in Dalmasca, Sloane spent most of her early years struggling to survive on the streets in the company of similarly ill-fated youngsters. As the situation surrounding the Garlean occupation worsened, she fled to Hingashi where she spent much of her early adulthood taking odd-jobs. When the opportunity presented itself, she later hopped a ship and immigrated to Eorzea in hopes of feeling less like a stranger in a strange land.
Upon reaching Eorzea, she began working as a dedicated mercenary and met Nadja and B'beeda (or BB, as she likes to call her) during the liberation of Ala Mhigo. While Nadja had strong-armed her way into Sloane's heart, becoming steadfast friends, her relationship with BB is much more complicated. Specifically because BB is roughly six years old, an orphan, and absolutely attached to the gunbreaker.
Some time after unintentionally becoming the child's guardian, Sloane resolved to give the kiddo a more stable life. Opting to take on less riskier jobs and eventually settle into the life of a bartender. Not long after, she met her partner, Judaea (Judie) Krul.

► That Dalmascan inflection in her voice is unmistakeable! Sloane has much easier time opening up to fellow countrymen.
► BB has gotten herself into some trouble. Time to take it up with the boss!

► That ijin looks familiar! You'd encountered the tall foreigner in Hingashi and are surprised to see her now in Eorzea.
